| Fordongianus is the most important Roman city in the interior of the island. During the period of the barbarian invasions the Romans transformed the settlement into a fortified outpost: Forum Traiani. The real importance of Fordongianus are the Roman baths. Today the rectangular pool still collects the hot water maintaining a temperature of about 50 °C. Around the pool there are smaller baths and chambers built in trachyte blocks and also the mosaic floor. |
